VR opens the ground below Binnenhof

The Binnenhof is under renovation, and the archaeology behind the hoardings can be hard for a child to picture. On 19 August, the information centre at Plaats 22 uses VR to place young visitors inside the layers found below the complex, turning a building site into a short journey through evidence. The experience lasts about six minutes, but capacity is genuinely small: there are two headsets and no more than twenty children per afternoon. Free therefore does not mean walk-in. While waiting, children can colour, follow a trail with an adult and examine displays about a complex of roughly 4,000 spaces and almost 90,000 square metres.
