Missed a traffic-fine deadline? CJIB now sends a reminder before the first rise

Since 1 July, people with an open traffic fine receive a free CJIB payment reminder during the pilot and two weeks to prevent the first increase. Verify the case through an official route and pay promptly.

• Previously, missing the original deadline moved the case toward the statutory increase. The reminder inserts a two-week brake before forgetfulness, a move or administrative delay becomes a larger debt.
• The pilot covers people with an outstanding traffic fine and is intended to run for at least 18 months. It is not a payment holiday and does not replace a formal payment arrangement or hardship support.
• The earliest scam warning is a text or email demanding immediate payment through an unfamiliar link. Return to cjib.nl or the official letter and verify the reference before entering DigiD or bank details.
