Local Kids
Free rural fair in Exloo: animals for children, makers for adults
Free entry, EUR5 parking
Deal Highlights
This is more than animals beside market stalls. Exloo turns its equestrian centre into a rural-life scene where sheep, birds of prey, folk dance, local food and makers show different forms of countryside work.
Details
Streek & Landleven runs at Hippisch Centrum Exloo on 1 and 2 August with free entry and EUR5 parking, including animals, knight shows, a children’s village and regional products.
- The children’s village adds ponies, inflatables, a carousel and games, giving children smaller choices between large shows instead of standing and watching all day.
- Birds of prey, sheep, camels or alpacas and knight displays reveal different human-animal skills. Follow barriers and quiet instructions and never use food to attract animals.
- Regional food and makers invite direct questions about origin, material and method. Free admission does not make products, catering or every optional experience free.
- The outdoor ground can be muddy or exposed to sun. Wear grass-friendly shoes, carry water and sun protection, and check the day schedule for performances.
Hokimi field note: Mark one large show on arrival, then let the child choose one animal and one children’s-village activity. Keep the remaining time for makers so the fair does not become a race.
