ENTR rebuilds seventeenth-century Amsterdam as a walkable shared VR world. Follow the old IJ harbour into the Great Fire on Dam Square, then choose one of three citizens whose story you continue.
What you need to know
Amsterdam in 1652 is not presented as a still old painting. ENTR puts you and your companions inside the IJ harbour, streets and Dam Square, with the sounds of ordinary citizens around you.
Three residents' lives cross during the great fire, and at a key point you choose whose perspective to follow. People in the same session can therefore leave with different details. Nienke Huitenga directs the ENTR production, co-produced by Backlight.
Its strongest feature is that history is not arranged for you on wall panels: you decide where to look as fire and crowds reshape the square. Visitors prone to VR sickness, under eight, or uncomfortable in a headset should consider that boundary first.
- Address: Oosterdokskade 131, 1011 DL Amsterdam, Netherlands.
- Live price from EUR 18.50; sessions currently extend into May 2027, with the selected date confirmed in the ticket selector.
- Ages 8+ and the venue is marked wheelchair accessible; the VR format may not suit motion-sensitive visitors.
With three visitors, agree to follow different citizens and compare clues afterwards; the shared debrief becomes part of the visit.
