AMAZE compresses three decades of ID&T's Dutch festival craft into eight interactive rooms inside a 3,000-square-metre former warehouse. Light, lasers, sound and video surround you, while movement alters parts of the show.
What you need to know
Amsterdam's electronic-music culture was never limited to festival stages. The AMAZE warehouse began as a peanut-roasting factory and hosted the underground Multigroove raves in 1992; ID&T has now filled it with lessons from three decades behind Mysteryland, Sensation, Awakenings and other major shows.
The roughly 3,000-square-metre route moves through eight rooms of light, lasers, sound, video and special effects. Some installations respond to where you stand or how you move, so this feels closer to entering a performance than watching a projection from the side.
With friends, the changing rooms quickly reveal how differently people react to sound and space. For a date or rainy-day plan, it gives one focused hour to a shared sensory experience. Strong light, bass, darkness and crowds may not suit every visitor.
- Address: AMAZE Amsterdam, Elementenstraat 25, 1014 AR Amsterdam.
- The route lasts about 60 minutes and tickets currently start at EUR 26.85; check the date, time slot and late-entry rule.
- This is an audiovisual interactive experience rather than a conventional concert; check health and accessibility guidance if flashes, loud sound or sensory load are concerns.
Hokimi field note: resist filming every room. Experience one full sequence first, then record the space you liked most—the journey feels far more coherent that way.
