Villa Cavrois in Croix near Lille is EUR 11.00 on Fever, rated 4.8 from 42 reviews, the same as the official price. Under-18s are free; at 18-25 only EU nationals and residents of France go free. No refunds, and you still book a slot.

What you need to know

On a day trip from the Netherlands to Lille, count who actually has to pay before you buy. The Fever entry ticket to Villa Cavrois is EUR 11, rated 4.8 from 42 reviews; the villa's own full price is also EUR 11, so this is not a discount, just a different checkout. Two lines on the official free-entry list matter for families: under-18s go free, and so do 18 to 25-year-olds who are EU nationals or non-European regular residents of France.

The house belonged to Paul Cavrois, head of the textile company Cavrois-Mahieu, who gave the commission to the architect Robert Mallet-Stevens in 1929; it was designed and built between 1929 and 1932, and the villa calls it Mallet-Stevens's most emblematic work. After Madame Cavrois died in 1986 it was sold to a developer, listed as a historic monument in 1990 and bought by the French state in 2001, and thirteen years of work worth about 23 million euros returned the house and park to their 1932 state. The sum is: total = EUR 11 x (people aged 26 and over + people aged 18 to 25 who are neither EU nationals nor resident in France).

Two parents with a 15-year-old and a 21-year-old student living in the Netherlands without EU nationality pay 11 x 3 = EUR 33; if that student holds an EU passport, it is 11 x 2 = EUR 22. Living in the Netherlands is not living in France, and the rule is written for regular residence on French territory. Entry is free for everyone on the first Sunday of November and December (1 November and 6 December), so skip this ticket on those days; the Fever ticket cannot be refunded or changed, and after buying it you still book a visit slot on the villa's website.

  • Getting there: from Lille take tram R to the Villa Cavrois stop and walk 15 minutes, or metro line 2 to Croix Centre and walk 25 minutes; the villa says parking is limited. (source 2)
  • The EUR 9.50 reduced price is only for holders of an SNCF TGV INOUI or TER Hauts-de-France train ticket and groups of 20 or more, and Fever only sells the EUR 11 regular ticket. (source 3, source 1)
  • House rules: no pushchairs inside, no suitcases or tripods and no flash; besides Mondays it closes on 1 January, 1 May and 25 December. (source 2)
