Starting higher education in September? Use the official checklist

If someone in your household starts HBO or university in September, the Rijksoverheid study checklist is a useful summer review for finance, tuition, insurance and practical living arrangements.

• When and where: for students preparing to enter Dutch higher education; July and August are good months to review it.
• Cost and conditions: the checklist is free; real costs can include tuition, insurance, transport, housing and study materials.
• Good for: recent graduates, students moving out and parents helping with admin before the new academic year.
• Before starting: list DigiD, bank account, address, insurance, tuition payment method and student transport separately.
