These 16 pages run from 24 September to 7 October 2026, and the cover opens with the most extreme shape in the book: all Campina Langlekker one-litre cartons at 1+2 gratis, with actieprijzen variëren van 1.89 - 2.19.

Turn the page and this becomes clear: These 16 pages run four different multi-buy shapes, and each one lands on a different price per item. At 1+2 gratis you take three and pay for one, so each carton is a third of its price. Sparwoudse kaasplakken 48+, Innocent juices and smoothies, alle Mutti pastasauzen, alle Samyang of Nissin and alle Alpro all run 1+1 gratis, which is a half. Alle Pickwick runs 2e halve prijs, which is three quarters. Take Langlekker at 1,89: three cartons for the price of one is 0,63 a litre, whereas the same litre on a 1+1 would be 0,95. One word, a third of a difference.

Three items show the gap between those four shapes most clearly:

• Campina Langlekker 1 liter runs 1+2 gratis. Take three cartons and pay for one, so each is a third of its price. The book states actieprijzen variëren van 1.89 - 2.19, and at the bottom of that range three cartons work out at 0,63 a litre. Milk keeps in the fridge and three litres is a fortnight of drinking, which makes this the item most worth giving a shelf to.
• Milka 85-100 gram is € 2,49. A chocolate bar is one of the few things in this book sold at a straight price with no gratis wording attached, so 2,49 is simply 2,49 and needs no conversion. It earns its place as the control: the items around it that say free land anywhere between a third and three quarters of their price once divided, while this one has no arithmetic in it at all.
• Coca-Cola, Fanta of Sprite 4 stuks is € 1,99. Four cans for 1,99 is under 0,50 a can. Soft drinks differ from milk in that an opened can has to go the same day, so a four-pack suits a household of two or more, or a weekend with visitors. For one person this is the item on the list most likely to sit until it goes flat.

The sum is the number you pay for divided by the number you carry out, multiplied by the unit price. So 1+2 gratis is one over three, 1+1 gratis is one over two, 2+1 gratis is two over three and 2e halve prijs is one and a half over two. Put the thing you actually buy into it: Alpro at 1,89 becomes 0,95 a carton on a 1+1, and Pickwick at 2,38 becomes 1,79 a box once the second is half price. What decides whether it pays is not the percentage but whether the second or third item gets used before its date.

Most blocks print actieprijzen variëren van, which is a range rather than one price, for example 2.59-2.95 on Innocent and 1.45-9.49 on alle Samyang of Nissin. In offers written this way the free item is normally the cheapest one, so treating the bottom of the range as the value of the free item is the safer assumption. The book gives no branch-level stock.
