Inventum OV207B mini oven, 20 litres and 1350 W

Preheating a full built-in oven for fifteen minutes to warm two pieces of salmon is a weekly event in a rented Dutch kitchen. Whether a small one is worth buying is settled by two rating plates, not by advertising copy.

Inventum is the Dutch appliance maker Inventum Huishoudelijke Apparaten, and its own site turns the guarantee into the selling point: anything bought after 27 April 2022 carries a 5-year warranty, where two years is normal at this price. The OV207B is a 20-litre countertop convection oven rated at 1350 W, running from 100 to 230 °C on four heating elements, with six programmes covering convection, top heat, bottom heat, both together, and either with the fan. A baking tray, a rack, a rotisserie spit and a crumb tray come in the box.

On a weekday evening once school has started again, the point of it is not having to fire up the big oven for one tray. There is a limit to know about first, though: the timer is mechanical and runs to 60 minutes at most. Anything you want to roast slowly for ninety minutes needs the dial turned a second time part way through, and that detail sits in the specification table rather than in the bullet points.

One field note: 1350 W for half an hour is 0.675 kWh. The rating plate of a built-in oven usually hides on the inner door frame, and most sit between 2000 and 3000 W before you count preheating. Multiply each wattage by the hours you really use, subtract, then multiply by the number of times a week. That gap, not the price, is what decides whether it earns its space on the counter.
