humangear GoToob+ 100 ml travel bottles, three for EUR 36.49: Schiphol still caps at 100 ml, Heathrow allows 2 litres

Three nights in London over the autumn break, one cabin bag. Flying back from Heathrow, containers of up to 2 litres can stay in the bag; flying out of Schiphol, it is still 100 millilitres per container, all in one 1-litre clear bag, one bag per person. How you split shampoo, shower gel and face cream has to follow the stricter leg.

humangear is a small company founded in San Francisco in 2007 by Chris Miksovsky, who studied product design at Stanford and spent several years at the design firm IDEO. The GoToob+ is its best-known soft silicone travel bottle, and humangear calls it the only travel bottle with a locking cap: the LoopLock ring clips over the lid so it is hard to squeeze open in a packed case, and it doubles as a hanging loop. The opening is 25% wider than the original GoToob, which makes filling and rinsing easier; the base is flat, so the bottle stands on its own while you fill it; and the side is printed with a 100 ml scale. That last detail matters at Schiphol, which asks that refillable containers clearly show their maximum volume. For a weekly gym or swimming session, one bottle of shampoo and one of shower gel in the kit bag work just as well, and a soft bottle squeezes empty without tapping the base. Silicone does not suit everything, though. humangear's compatibility list rules out salicylic-acid acne products, hair serums such as argan-oil treatments, DEET insect repellent, hydrogen peroxide and prescription medicines, and asks you to test sunscreen, essential oils and high-alcohol products overnight first. The bottles are also designed for travel, not long-term storage.

• First work out how long one bottle lasts: days = 100 divided by the millilitres you use per day. Measure one squeeze of shampoo and multiply by how often you wash; the three bottles add up to 300 ml, leaving 700 ml in the 1-litre bag for toothpaste, face cream and contact-lens solution.
• Pack for the strictest airport: since 23 January 2026 every Heathrow terminal has CT scanners and containers up to 2 litres can stay in the bag; Schiphol still applies 100 ml per container and one 1-litre bag per person. Heathrow itself warns that most other airports have different rules and to check before the return flight.
• Count the price you actually pay: this version (green, blue and clear, Closing Cap) is EUR 36.49 plus EUR 8.90 delivery, sold by TACWRK, arriving 1 to 5 October, returnable within 30 days of receipt. The purple and turquoise Locking Cap version is EUR 35.99 with free delivery, but only 1 was left when checked. The 4.7 from 2,067 ratings is Amazon's combined figure across colours.
• Cleaning: tubes and collars go on the top rack of the dishwasher; wash the flip caps by hand in warm, soapy water.

Hokimi tip: fill each bottle to about four fifths and write the contents on the textured patch on the collar, so the shower gel does not end up as shampoo in the hotel. Back home, empty and wash them as humangear advises rather than leaving shampoo inside all winter.
