De Locht craft day: hammer, bake and understand how a village made daily life
29 Jul; make and bake for kids
Deal Highlights
This is not generic sticking and colouring: hammering, buttons, flags and bread reveal how an old village built, sewed, celebrated and prepared food.
Details
Museumdorp De Locht in Melderslo holds Knutsel-doe-dag on 29 July from 11:00 to 15:30. Adults pay €12.50, ages 7-18 €6.25 and ages 0-6 enter free; the hands-on programme targets primary-school children.
- Volunteers maintain De Locht as a North Limburg village about growing food, clothing and shelter; the craft day reduces those systems to tasks children can physically complete.
- Hammering, button and flag making and bread baking move from looking at old tools to feeling force, material and waiting time, showing how everyday things were once produced.
- The summer museum opens Tuesday-Sunday 10:00-17:00 and a family ticket is €35; parking is free and the site is wheelchair accessible. Ask ahead about flour allergies or dietary needs.
Hokimi field note: Let a child choose one object to take home and one food task; the old farmhouses and craft street then become places to search for where each thing began.
