Basic-Fit's yearly plan adds 5 free weeks: Comfort is €344.86 over 13 charges, or €6.05 a week

Basic-Fit runs more than 240 clubs in the Netherlands and is usually the first gym a newcomer looks at. Its pricing page shows Comfort at €24.99 per 4 weeks, which is easy to read as €24.99 a month. It is not: the yearly contract has a minimum term of 52 weeks, and 52 divided by 4 is 13, so the first year is billed 13 times, not 12. Add the €19.99 joining fee and Comfort really costs 13 × €24.99 + €19.99 = €344.86 in year one. Until 8 October 2026 a 5 + 52 week contract comes with 5 extra weeks and a sports bag, so that €344.86 buys 57 weeks, or €6.05 a week. Sign after 8 October and you get 52 weeks, or €6.63 a week. One question decides the rest: are you sure you will still be in the Netherlands in a year?

• The joining fees run backwards. Comfort is €24.99 per 4 weeks with a €19.99 joining fee, Premium is €29.99 with €9.99, Ultimate is €34.99 with €4.99. Moving from Comfort to Ultimate adds €130 across 13 charges but saves €15 at signup, so the real gap is €115 over the first year.
• Comfort covers the 240-plus Dutch clubs only; Premium and Ultimate open every club in Europe. The gap is €5 per 4 weeks, which is €65 over 13 charges, minus the €10 difference in joining fee, so €55 net per year. If you spend a few weeks a year elsewhere in Europe and would otherwise buy single entries, add those up and compare them with €55.
• If you are not sure about the full year, look at Flex: €9.99 extra per 4 weeks, no 52-week minimum, cancellable every 4 weeks after that. Over 13 periods Flex costs €129.87 more. That money buys the right to stop in 4 weeks, which matters when your job contract or residence status is still open.
• Occasional visitors should price the day ticket first: €11.99 for one entry, usable within 7 days of purchase. €344.86 divided by €11.99 is 28.8, so you need 29 visits in 57 weeks, roughly one every fortnight, before the yearly contract wins. Freezing your membership is included with Ultimate and costs €2.99 per 4 weeks on Comfort and Premium.

Hokimi field note: read this price list by the week, not by the month, and it stops being confusing. Before you sign, mark week 52 on your calendar, because that date is the earliest you can cancel. Source: source 1, checked on 2026-09-23.
