What you need to know
At the weekend you want to make a pot of winter melon soup and a plate of stir-fried mushrooms and greens, with some tropical fruit afterwards, and the whole family meal means one trip to the Asian supermarket. This weekly deals sheet runs from 30 September 2026, is a single page, and lists only fresh vegetables and fruit.
Some of these vegetables are sold by the kilo and some by the pack, and unless you convert them to one unit it is hard to see which is really cheap.
This week’s fresh produce deals fall neatly into three groups: soup, stir-fry and fruit for afterwards:
- Soup: winter melon (Wintermeloen, Tong Kwa) at 2,45 a kilo. Cut into chunks and simmered for an hour with pork ribs or dried scallop, it makes a light, sweet soup; cassava at 2,35 a kilo and orange sweet potato at 1,85 a kilo can go into the pot too, or be steamed as the starch.
- Stir-fry: oyster mushrooms of about 200 g at 2,99 a pack and royal cabbage at 5,99 a kilo. Tear the mushrooms and fry them with sliced garlic, flash-fry the cabbage with oyster sauce, and both plates are on the table in under ten minutes.
- Fruit for afterwards: longan of about 1 kg at 4,50 a pack and air-freighted Thai peeled jackfruit of about 500 g at 8,99 a pack. Longan is for peeling together at the table; the jackfruit is already out of its skin and seeds, ready to eat from the box, which saves cutting a whole one at home.

Convert the per-pack prices to a price per kilo using the approximate weight, so they can sit next to the per-kilo prices. Filled in: the mushrooms are 2.99 divided by 0.2, about 14.95 a kilo; the jackfruit 8.99 divided by 0.5, about 17.98 a kilo; the longan 4.50 divided by 1, about 4.50 a kilo; a pot of winter melon soup for four takes 1.5 kg of melon, which is 1.5 times 2.45, about 3.68. Put in the weights you plan to buy and you have the cost of the fresh produce for the meal.
The folder is a single page and the offer dates are 30 September to 6 October 2026; it states while stocks last, photos may differ from the product, and price changes and printing errors are reserved. Fresh produce goes when it is sold out, so if soup is the plan, go in the first days of the offer.
