Panningen heritage festival: 3,000 tractors restart a history of work

3,000 vintage tractors and engines

📅 Valid until 2026-07-26🕒 Published 2026-07-19🏷️ Category Local Attrac.

Deal Highlights

These old machines do not sit silently: steam, engines and farm equipment run again, showing how different eras changed farming, transport and rural life.

Details

IHF Festival returns to Panningen on 25-26 July. Adult day entry is €17.50, ages 4-14 pay €10, under-fours are free and a two-day adult pass costs €27.50.

  • IHF presents itself as a major European gathering of oldtimers and tractors, with previous scale around 3,000 tractors and 400 engines. That breadth lets visitors compare eras, brands and jobs side by side.
  • Historic vehicles, stationary engines, steam and demonstrations turn “old” into working craft. Family fairground elements and terraces give non-specialists reasons to stay too.
  • Gates open at 08:00, card payment is encouraged and cash should be exact. The large site, noise and fumes can tire young children, so check the programme map and bring ear protection, water and sun cover.

Hokimi field note: Choose one machine a child recognises and one completely unfamiliar example; asking what human work it replaced makes the engineering easier to remember than model numbers.
