Latin in the Park: Samba Roots brings Brazil to a Hague park

The Zuiderparktheater, an open-air venue in The Hague, turns into a small pocket of Brazil again on Friday evening 7 August for the third edition of the Brazil in the Park series, running from 19:00 to midnight. The headline act, Samba Roots Amsterdam, arrives straight from a sold-out show at Paradiso and brings their roda de samba to the park: a circle-format performance built on samba da raiz, the traditional style associated with greats like Cartola, Zeca Pagodinho and Beth Carvalho, layered with more modern Brazilian influences. Os Capangas opens the night with traditional forró from northeastern Brazil, setting a different rhythm before the main circle begins. The late-entry ticket costs €25, and the pairing gives one evening a real cross-section of two distinct strands of Brazilian music rather than a single generic Latin night.
