Boulevard van het Circus turns the Kijkduin seafront into a free open-air circus for one Saturday, 8 August 2026.
What you need to know
Every summer the seaside town of Kijkduin, part of The Hague, picks one Saturday to turn its entire boulevard into an open-air circus, and on 8 August that runs from 16:00 to 21:00 along the Promenade, Boulevard and Deltaplein. The afternoon opens with the Rhythm Allstars Brassband, followed by stilt walkers, a magician and a caricature artist working the crowd, while a Circaso circus workshop next to the Deltaplein carousel lets children try juggling and balance tricks on the spot, and a face-painting chair turns visitors into clowns and acrobats for the day. Everything is free, and a running Circus Challenge game hands out a token after three games, redeemable for soft ice at Taste of Kijkduin or a bubble tea at the ShinRin Tea Bar. The evening ends with a fire show by the lighthouse, closing the circus theme after dark.
