Getting lost becomes the task in Havelte

Once the tall maize hides the car park and entrance in Havelte, children have to work with route clues instead of following an adult in a straight line. The Maïsdoolhof opens on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 19 to 30 August. Puzzles and a treasure thread sit inside the maze, while a lookout tower briefly reveals the field from above. A terrace, play area and seasonal flower field can extend the visit. The deeper value is learning to divide responsibility under uncertainty: one person remembers turns, another reads the task and someone has to admit when the group should backtrack. The tower offers perspective but does not solve the route. Outside food and drink are not permitted, so budget and hunger timing belong in the plan before entering.
