Circusbende’s two weekends bring contemporary circus close to the neighbourhood
Two weekends of accessible circus
Deal Highlights
The protagonist is not traditional animal circus but risk between bodies, objects, music and audiences. Free, donation and low-cost shows make trying the form easier.
Details
The festival runs 13-16 August at Het Groene Veld in Amsterdam-Noord and 27-30 August in Erasmuspark. Music is free and many activities are free or donation-based.
- Circusbende centres open, accessible contemporary circus and places professional shows beside neighbourhood activity. That is why stages, workshops, bingo and interactive installations share one site.
- Super Camion performs on 14 August, while Diegedoes runs across both weekends. Circusclub workshops are free for all ages on 15, 16, 29 and 30 August.
- The two sites are not one entrance: weekend one is Het Groene Veld, weekend two Erasmuspark. Match date, location, age, language and free/donation/ticket label before booking.
- Some small shows require tickets and free sessions can still fill. One anchor performance plus one open activity leaves realistic time for food, moving and children’s rest.
Hokimi field note: Free does not mean unsupported. If a donation-based performance keeps you watching, contributing what you can is how the low-threshold model continues.
