Free Midzomerfeest in Buren: local tables and bands take over the island night

On 25 July, Ameland’s annual Midzomerfeest takes place at Vrijewilpad on the edge of Buren. Entry is free, with games, family attractions, local food stands and nonstop live music.

• The festival returns on the last Saturday of July. Its protagonist is not one headline artist but a village building a whole day, which is why visitors glimpse local rhythm.
• Games, inflatables and attractions for different ages let a group split up and meet again by the stage or food square instead of following one timetable.
• Entry is free but food and drinks are paid. The official listing says details may change; recheck the programme and ferry home before travelling, not only the island bus.
• The site is around Vrijewilpad at Buren’s edge. Island transport and late return capacity are limited, so an overnight guest and day visitor need different plans.
