Moving into a rented room in early September means white walls, an empty windowsill and a suitcase that holds nothing made for that wall. The easiest decision at that moment is to buy a pile of cheap small things to fill the space, and to put all of them away again two months later.

This edition separates the wall, the windowsill and somewhere to sit, which happens to be the three places a newly moved room is missing first. Measuring the wall and the windowsill before leaving the house saves more than money compared with deciding in front of the shelf: the outer size of a frame decides how much wall is left around it, and the diameter of a planter decides whether anything else still fits on the sill.
