What you need to know
For a properly scary Halloween in the Netherlands, many people head to Walibi Holland in Flevoland: every October the park turns part of its grounds into Halloween Fright Nights, with actors dressed as clowns and zombies chasing visitors through scare zones, plus haunted houses that need their own tickets. This year's theme is Back to Reality, with a new camp-site scare zone called Camp Dead End, a new area called Halloween Town where the monsters run their own bar, and a daytime show by Eddie the clown at 14:00 and 15:00 on Main Stage. Fright Nights runs on only 13 days, and tickets are not one price: the calendar prices each date and earlier orders get up to EUR 10 off. It suits adults and older teens who enjoy horror. Next step: choose the day first, then decide on a haunted house package.
- Choosing the day is choosing the price: on 29 September the calendar showed EUR 39.50 for Sunday 4 and Sunday 11 October, Thursday 22 October and Sunday 1 November, and the top price of EUR 44.50 on Saturday 17 October, with EUR 44 on opening day, 3 October. Four friends moving from the 17th to the 4th pay 4 x 5 = EUR 20 less.
- Work out the haunted houses: total = people x day ticket + people x package. The Before Dark Package is EUR 19.50 (one entry each to Jefferson Manor, Psychoshock and Camp of Curiosities before 19:00; EUR 30 separately); the Haunted House Package is EUR 35 (three haunted houses plus a walkthrough at any time; EUR 40 separately); the Plus version with US vs YOU is EUR 40 (EUR 52.50 separately); the R.I.P. option is EUR 60 for the same four through a no-queue entrance. Four people on a Sunday with Before Dark pay 4 x 39.50 + 4 x 19.50 = EUR 236.
- With children, check the age first: Walibi's advised age for Fright Nights is 16+ (not checked at the gate), and several children's rides close on those days. For ages 6 to 12, Halloween Spooky Days fits better: it runs only on 14, 15, 19, 20 and 21 October, at EUR 29.50 on the calendar, and the park closes at 18:00.
- Arriving early pays off: on Fright Nights days the park opens at 10:00, the first haunted house opens at 13:00, and the two Eddie shows run only in the afternoon; scare zones are included with entry, no extra ticket needed. Haunted houses and walkthroughs are not wheelchair accessible.
