Wageningen keeps its French market conversational

“Parisian atmosphere” can collapse into striped shirts and crêpes, but Montmartre aan de Rijn in Wageningen keeps the makers present. From 11:00 to 16:00 on 22 August, the sixth small-scale French market runs along Bergstraat and 5 Mei Plein. Painters, quick sketch artists, poets, musicians and stalls with art or vintage objects create a route designed for slow conversation. The modest scale is an advantage. Children can watch a face become a drawing, while adults can ask directly about materials and price rather than turning a market into a race to buy. Admission is free and there is entertainment for children and young people, but outdoor seating, weather and individual payment methods require flexibility.
