Use Amsterdam’s free 24-hour GVB day card as a rehearsal, not a race

A free day card can turn into a race to “get your money’s worth”, leaving a family tired without learning a route they will actually use again. Amsterdam Bereikbaar offers eligible applicants a GVB 24-hour day card after an online form. The code arrives by email, must be redeemed in the GVB app within two weeks, and the resulting travel card can then wait up to thirty days before activation. Once activated, it runs for twenty-four consecutive hours. The campaign permits one request per person per week and no more than three in total, while availability lasts until 31 December 2026 or until the supply runs out. Hokimi’s view is to use the free day as a practical rehearsal: test one realistic commute, transfer or family journey rather than collecting attractions.
