The roughly forty-two kilometres begin around Niftrik with coffee and cake at Hoogeerd, continue to lunch at Riverside, reach Kasteel Hernen at about 13:30 and finish with a savoury bite back at Hoogeerd. The castle is more than a backdrop: visitors can use the “talking” lantern to explore medieval rooms and the story of the vanished tower. The live booking page currently lists €37. 95 per person and only an 11:00 start. The route is unavailable on Monday, Tuesday and Friday, throughout November, and on the specifically listed 9 August date. An important extra step is easy to miss: the castle time must be reserved separately, although holders of the valid arrangement can select the corresponding free-entry option. Bicycle rental is not included and needs a separate partner.
