The Maker Market Amsterdam: 80 makers inside Amstel1

Amsterdam's former city hall on the Amstel now holds shops, cafés and a glass-roofed market hall called De Lichtstraat, and on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 August that hall belongs to The Maker Market. This is not a market for resellers: every one of the eighty makers exhibiting in person must design and produce their own work, favour sustainable materials, and stand behind their own stall to explain how a piece was made. Walking the aisles moves from MAPLAB's interior objects and mi KALMA's hand-poured candles to Pearlita Aroma Hub's scents and Miel_oorbellen's earrings, so a slow lap feels less like shopping and more like reading a living catalogue of Amsterdam craft.
