Qibbel Air rear child bike seat at EUR 97.99: 9 months to 6 years works out near EUR 1.56 a month

In the Netherlands the family vehicle for small children is usually a parent's bike: the run to daycare, Saturday swimming lessons, a stop at the bakery. Once a child is about 9 months old and can sit up unaided, most parents start looking at child seats.

Qibbel is a brand of Widek, a family company making bicycle accessories since 1936, and the Qibbel Air rear seat is developed, produced and assembled at its factory in Krimpen aan den IJssel. It mounts on the rear carrier with a QuickConnect turn knob and no tools, has a mesh backrest that dries quickly after rain, and a five-point harness with a ClickSafe push buckle. It meets the European child-seat standard EN 14344:2022 and carries an additional German TÜV certificate. What really decides front or rear is how long your child can use it. • Read the 22 kg against the 15 kg. The description says up to 22 kg, but the specification table on the same page lists a maximum recommended weight of 15 kg. If your child is already close to 15 kg, go by the description and the enclosed manual before ordering, or ask the seller.
• Register it for the warranty. The page promises a transferable five-year warranty, but only after registration. Register the serial number on arrival; when the second child is done and you sell it on to another family, the warranty travels with the seat.
