OMRON X2+ Connect at EUR 39.99: the week your GP asks for is 28 readings, and the memory holds 30

After one high reading, a Dutch GP usually does not reach for a prescription. The practice asks you to measure at home for a week and bring the numbers back, and hands you a paper diary while the device is your own problem. The OMRON X2+ Connect upper-arm monitor is EUR 39.99 on Amazon.nl, rated 4.6 from 2,060 reviews, official model HEM-7188T1-LEO with five years of warranty, and that one week is the job it has to do.

OMRON is the maker that turned the blood pressure monitor into a household object, and this one inflates with its Intellisense method: the device works out how much pressure it needs and stops there instead of squeezing hard and bleeding down. The official page also lists a Cuff Wrap Guide that shows whether the cuff sits straight, an irregular-heartbeat flag and a body-movement flag, and states that the device is clinically validated to the latest ESH and ISO protocols; for AFib screening the same page says no. The body weighs 0.26 kg and Bluetooth sends each reading to the OMRON connect app.

Two numbers have to come from your own arm and your own week. The first is the circumference of your upper arm: take a tape measure around the middle of it. You will want it again when a cuff wears out, when a second device is needed, or when you are choosing one for a parent.
