Details
If you live in the Gooi en Vechtstreek region, please note that the waste separation rules are changing. Starting 1 July 2026, the way PMD (plastic packaging, metal cans, and drink cartons) is handled will be updated.
⏰ effective from 01/07/2026
This change aims to improve recycling efficiency through centralized processing, meaning your daily sorting routine will need to be adjusted.
- ✓ The change: From 1 July, you should put plastic packaging, metal cans, and drink cartons together with your residual waste (restafval).
- ✓ Centralized sorting: The processor will handle the separation of PMD materials afterwards.
- ✓ Watch for mail: GAD will send a letter to households in the service area; keep an eye out for it to update your kitchen routine.
If this applies to you, check the official GAD page for full details. As everyday costs rise, keep an eye on Hokimi — we'll keep finding better-value food, shopping, travel, and local-life tips to help you manage your daily routine.
