If you work in Dutch seaports, please note that the IND has updated its requirements. From 01/07, a residence permit is required to perform seafaring service on board a seagoing vessel in a Dutch seaport for longer than 90 days.

This applies when your employer is a shipping company or recruitment agency, so it is worth checking your status immediately.

  • ✓ Plan ahead: If you or your employer planned a July start, check the permit route now instead of after arrival.
  • ✓ Ask your sponsor: Confirm which application path they will use before Monday.
  • ✓ Keep records: Save a copy of the IND page in your work-permit checklist so the rule change is not missed.
