The sum has one line: case price divided by units in the case, then compared with the single price. Tomato puree in a 4550 g tin is 14,50 euro on its own, down from 16,50 euro, and 55,00 euro for a case of six, down from 62,00 euro, which is about 9,17 euro a tin, more than a third below buying singles. Sesame oil of 1750 ml is 21,50 euro a tin, down from 24,50 euro, and 119,95 euro for six, down from 141,00 euro, which is about 19,99 euro each, only some seven per cent lower. Both are labelled as case offers; whether one deserves that much shelf space depends on the figure after dividing.

The three items picked out on the page each answer a different stocking-up need:

• Klaas Puul Easy Peel Garnalen 750 g at € 8,99: a 750 g bag of frozen prawns, which works out near 11,99 euro a kilo. The easy-peel format removes the fiddly part, which suits a household that has twenty minutes to get dinner on the table after work. One bag covers three or four meals across noodles, fried rice and hotpot if you take out only what you need and leave the rest frozen.
• DO DO Vegetable Fish Ball 200 g at € 2,99: a 200 g bag of vegetarian fish balls, roughly 14,95 euro a kilo. When someone in the house eats no meat, or you simply want less of it, this is the least demanding thing to drop into a soup or a hotpot. The pack is small enough to fit a crowded freezer and small enough that no one has to eat it all week.
• Tjendrawasih Pastei Party 480 g at € 10,50: a 480 g box of Indonesian savoury pastries, about 21,88 euro a kilo. Its job is unexpected visitors and food you carry to someone else's table: heat it in the oven and it is ready, far faster than making pastry yourself. It is the dearest of the three per kilo, so buy it against a date in the diary rather than for the cupboard.

Another large block of the flyer is ambient stock marked 40% korting, printed with the new and the old figure together: Sau Tao bamboo noodles at about 150 g for 1,13 euro, from 1,89 euro; Sukina fresh Japanese udon at about 200 g for 0,41 euro, from 0,69 euro; SMH Hainanese bun at about 160 g for 3,21 euro, from 5,35 euro; SMH wholemeal red bean bun at about 180 g for 1,71 euro, from 2,85 euro. All four land on exactly sixty per cent of the old figure, so the percentage can be checked by multiplying the old price by 0,6.

Worth noting: a flyer that runs three weeks grows thinner towards the end, and the page says nothing about restocking. Frozen lines are marked Netto, the drained weight, so thawing leaves a little less. Case packs appear on some lines only, and the item you want may not have one.
