The first week of September is when the holiday ends, the gym fills up again and the office is full. This Action edition lands exactly on that switch: three things that get used up and bought again, all around two euros.

Skin after a summer outdoors, running shoes that sat still for two months, the bottle at the back of the drawer that ran out in July: these are first-week-of-September thoughts. The volume and the count are written next to each name, so read them, because a low unit price is not the same as lasting long.

Sports socks are the item that gets washed most often and wears through first, so three pairs mean a week without running a machine for one sock. Check the size range printed on the pack, because sports socks are usually sold by a span of foot lengths rather than one number.
• Varanti Hombre eau de toilette Bro 100 ml (€ 1,79): a 100 millilitre eau de toilette. At this price it belongs in an office drawer or a gym bag for a top-up rather than as a main fragrance. An eau de toilette is a light concentration and fades sooner by design, so try it on the wrist first, and read the ingredient list if your skin reacts easily.
