What you need to know
Most days, Utrecht’s singel is a calm piece of city scenery. On 29 August it becomes a slow procession of inflatable boats, rings and unicorns. Dobberen & Slobberen gathers at Park Lucasbolwerk at noon, enters the water at 13:00 and drifts toward Park Lepelenburg, where food and a shore programme continue from 15:30 until 20:00. Free participation does not remove planning. Stability of the inflatable, water temperature, weather, swimming ability and the journey home in wet clothes matter more than the funniest shape. Hokimi recommends treating completion of the entire route as optional. If conditions or confidence change, walking along the bank and meeting at the finish still keeps the social part of the day. A reservation manages crowd size; it does not replace an individual water-safety decision.

Hokimi field note: Inflate and leak-test equipment beforehand. Pack a waterproof bag, dry clothes and secure footwear, and never enter the water after drinking. Agree on a shore meeting point and check the organiser’s safety update that morning.
