Free Utrecht pop-up science for children: become a neighbourhood researcher
UMU science tour: 18 Jul-27 Aug
Deal Highlights
Brushes, teeth, skulls and scent jars turn a summer outing into a discovery story.
Details
This is not a museum queue moved outside. UMU brings a cargo bike or van with brushes, hammers, teeth, skulls and scent jars into Utrecht neighbourhoods, so children can investigate as researchers. A normal summer afternoon becomes a discovery rather than another screen-time compromise.
- Time and place: 18 July-27 August, rotating through Transwijk, Lunetten, Griftpark, Majellapark, Maximapark and Zomer op Dreef; times differ by stop.
- Best for: curious children and families seeking a free school-holiday plan.
- Before you go: check the official schedule for district and time. Take water and sun protection for outdoor sessions, then leave room for a picnic.
Hokimi field note: The reward is not a worksheet but the question your child keeps talking about on the way home.
