Dozens of fake-police scams have been reported in Noord-Nederland, where scammers pose as officers to steal cash, jewellery, and bank cards. Stay alert if you receive unexpected calls or visits.

The police have issued a clear warning: they will never ask you to hand over valuables for 'safekeeping'. If you are approached, follow these steps immediately.

• ✓ Recognise the red flag: Police never collect bank cards, cash, or jewellery.
• ✓ Hang up and call 112: If someone is at your door or on the phone demanding valuables, hang up and call 112 immediately.
• ✓ Report the attempt: Once you are safe, report the incident via Politie.nl or your local police line.
