Free Utrecht Sunday mini-festival: bring a picnic blanket for new local sounds

Some summer events rely on a big stage. A Lazy Sunday Afternoon works because you can hand an entire afternoon to the park. This Utrecht mini-festival has been a tradition for more than 25 years, giving emerging city talent a stage while people with picnic blankets, children and friends join naturally.

• Time and place: selected Sundays including 19 July, 23 August and 30 August, 13:00-17:00, Park Lepelenburg. Entry is free.
• Best for: low-cost weekend plans, families without fixed seats and anyone curious about local music.
• Before you go: bring a blanket, water and sun protection. Check the programme and weather, then arrive early for shade.
