Best kept secret in Amsterdam. By accident we found Oops Malatang while visiting Albert Cuyp market and it is worth a visit. You select your own ingredients e.g. vegetables and meat from a large selection. Your selection is weighed and you pay per 100 gram. You also select which soup you want. I went for a normal Original bone soup but wife went for a medium spicy. My soup was pleasant spicy and fulfilling. Tip: you should only select noodles (ramen or udon) if you are hungry. For lunch go for the many vegetables e.g. mushroom which goes very well with the soup.

This Malatang tastes very good! The marinated beef reminds me the taste from home. Service is fast as well.

Went to Oops Malatang after seeing it on TikTok and I really liked the concept. You pick out your own ingredients, pay by weight, and then they cook it for you in the broth of your choice. The staff was super attentive and helpful, which made it easy to figure out how everything works. I tried the Sichuan spicy broth and loved it. The bone broth was also good — though without any spice. With every bowl, you also get a little sauce dish to mix your own dip at the sauce bar, which really takes it up a notch. The food overall was really good, though it depends a lot on the ingredients you choose. It’s fun to experiment and figure out what combinations you like best.
